Growth capital to establish a convenience store business with both freehold and leasehold assets in residential areas across Scotland

DRL Invest Ltd (“DRLI”) has secured an undisclosed amount of growth capital from Nash Business Capital Ltd, in conjunction with funding arranged by Nash & Co Capital Ltd. DRLI is establishing a convenience store business with both freehold and leasehold assets located predominantly in residential areas across Scotland. Trading under the name ‘Eddy’s Food Station’, DRLI is targeting both existing trading concerns and new build sites.
Stephen Thompson, the CEO and co-founder of Discovery Retail Ltd (the holding company of DRLI) was closely involved with his family business, Morning Noon & Night, a convenience store portfolio of 50 sites located across Scotland, which was headed by his father and sold to Scottish Midland Co-operative Society Ltd (‘Scotmid’) in 2004 for £26.7m.
