Nash Business Capital Ltd  has provided £4,800,000 of funding to Willen Biogas Ltd, the owner and operator of a 1.5MW anaerobic digestion (‘AD’) plant in Enfield. The plant, which has been operating since 2016, currently consumes commercial food waste but will now be adapted to run on a second source of feedstock, namely energy crops such as maize and rye. The funding has refinanced all previous loans and enabled the purchase of new equipment to allow for the grinding and processing of energy crop feedstock.

The family-owned farm, located immediately north of the M25 motorway and positioned near a number of local councils with some of the biggest food waste concentrations in England, will now have the flexibility to feed the AD plant with its own homegrown cereal crops.

The financing is the 15th transaction entered into by Nash Business Capital Ltd and co-investors since 2020, with c. £75m of capital deployed and 3 successful exits achieved to date.
